A conversation between me and my uncle:
Uncle: Did you know that Stevie Wonder was a driver before he became a star in the music business!?
Marz: Huh?
Uncle: Yeah, imagine that!
Marz: But.. isn't he blind??
Uncle:*silent.. then bursts out laughing upon realizing his mistake*
So much for making up wild stories, lol! =)
Early this morning, I witnessed the most beautiful sunrise! It was as though it were a painting in the sky, swirling in shades of golden orange and yellow, with occassional touches of indigo and grey. But considering that it was six thirty in the morning, I crawled back into my "sea of blankets" (so says John Mayer) and didn't wake up again until seven. At that time, the sun was high in the sky and the moment I opened my eyes again, I thought I gone blind! Although I wasn't caffienated enough to be awake, it didn't take much to realize it does take some extent of sacrifice to be able to witness one of God's masterpieces. Perhaps I should try waking up earlier tomorrow. Hah. Yeah right. =P

Before anything else, let me greet a beautiful girl (aka one of my best friends) in Hawaii, who, on this day, is currently celebrating her eighteenth birthday! Selamat Ulang Tahun, Pam! =) Miss ya (along with Mitch), girl!
My Filipino professor called up last night to give me make up work for the class, and she said I got a perfect score on my oral presentation on Postmodernist Philippines!! The conversation went more or less like so:
T: For your make up work, you can either do the extra assignment or tabulate your current two top scores to your current average.
M: Since I already have the thesis, two assignments and the long test to study for, I guess I'll just choose the tabulation option.
T: All righties.
M: If it's all right to ask, can I ask what my current top scores are?
T: *pause as she's flipping through some book* Well, since the oral presentation has been done, I've graded that. *pause* And that was out of 20.. so.. you got the full score.
M: *jaw drops to floor* Really?
T: Yeah. See? I told you that you didn't do that bad!
New layout again. Just last night I realized how much I felt like smacking myself for keeping the last layout up. Why? 1) It didn't look complete; 2) The Tagalog things I wrote didn't make sense; and 3) I felt like it? Nic and Carlo agreed with me too. I just hope I don't boot this layout out either. For those who miss the "pretty" style rather than the cute style, don't worry, I'll get back to making those once I get decent idea for one! I guess the best excuse for this layout is in celebration of Pam's eighteenth, lol! =) Do you guys like this layout better or not? Comment below! =)

I had to switch to Word Pad just to accomodate the size of the source; remember, I'm blogging manually for now.
The world becomes much much smaller when you've been 'grouped' by universities -- well, considering there are only so many universities in the Philippines! I recieved an email from this girl (hope she doesn't mind me posting her URL) asking if I knew Bombi. It was the craziest thing -- out of all the websites in the world, she would able to locate mine and not just that, discover that we have mutual friends! =) =) I certainly hope to get a correspondence from her soon. (Lovely site too, by the way!)
I just heard my mom call me "Marz". 0.o;; That's a first. No, I won't tell you what she usually calls me. X.X
I got a very interesting email from my soul sister, on "How To Determine Your Anger From Your Starsign". Now, I don't really concede to these superstitions, but when I read mine, I laughed -- it's so true! LEO: If anyone has total control over their emotions, it is you. But then, you can be described as stiff, cold and uncaring. You are known to lack spontaneity but you really don't care about opinions. You don't like to create scenes and will never accept invitations to a party where you suspect the presence of an unruly lot. But your very presence seems challenging to some and they take vicarious pleasure in your disquiet. When angry you can use very critical language. A dressing-down can humiliate your opponent, causing a strain between both of you forever.
I'm known for "not having to prove anything to anyone". If people press the button, I will counterattack in my own way, and sometimes (although not really intended but it takes effect anyway) obliterating their reputation for good. I rarely get mad, but it doesn't mean that I put up with everyone's crap, lol!
I'm thinking of tweaking this layout a little bit. But I'll see what I can do to make it better; if there's nothing, then I'll just leave it. What do you guys think? (By the way, thanks to Niks, Sindhu, Jannie and Nic for the comments on the "lady" post.)
Music plug! » Love Never Fails - Sandy e Junior -- probably one of the most adorable songs I've ever heard! I was told that I sing like the lead! =)

I'm not a lady.
I was never one, nor will I ever be one. And I don't get the mentality of the guys here! Why is it that girls have to act ladylike (What other lame excuse is there to use other than the fact that it "looks better on the girl"?) ? Have the scars of the American Colonization in the 40s healed or are we too masochistic that we still hang onto it?
I was talking to Char after English class and we (but more on my part) brought up the issue of society's oppression on the role of the woman. Now, her boyfriend was present at our talk, and I constantly looked back at him. From his body language, he didn't seem to like what he was hearing, and I was pretty sure Char saw that too. Looking at that gave me two emotions: 1) I felt sorry for the guy; he's hearing two girls show their true colours to each other; and 2) I wanted to slap him for reacting the way he did; it's the truth and he lingered around, so he chose to hear it.
Take this: Some guys here allow themselves to curse like pirates and yet tells the girl that if she is the one that curses, it "looks bad". How can it "look bad" when he's hearing it? Can one look at sound? (This is excluding exceptions that are usually brought up in Physics classrooms i.e., amplifiers) Well, that's not the point. The point is that trying to look at sound is absurd, just as it is absurd to oppress a woman from who she is, let alone, the ability to express herself and probably use profanity when she wants to. I remember not seeing this type of oppression in Jakarta (or maybe I was just oblivious to it); only now have I been shocked with what the revelation of what males' standards for the opposite sex compose of!
I have been in one of those emotionally abusive relationships before (and it's not a surprise to know that he's from this country, hence supporting the argument) and the scar was deep. After that, I involved myself in a relationship which didn't oppress me and allowed my individuality to come out. And I knew from then, I cannot not work to be an ideal of my partner, but only for myself. Alex knew that, and that's why I knew I was on the way to have a really happy relationship with him. =) And no, I haven't been wrong or doubted my conviction!
I just hope that Char's boyfriend doesn't hate me just because I spoke my mind.. actually, I don't care if he does or not. As far as anyone here is concerned, I'll continue my knuckle cracking, freely whistling (FYI, whistling is considered unacceptable for girls here), jean sporting, free speaking, unladylike life. Women rule. LOL!

Congratulations to the school basketball team for their victory in today's game! =) Also, great play, La Salle!
New layout! In my last post, I mentioned how I adored Michelle Branch's new look -- well, I couldn't resist featuring her in the new look, even though the lyrics are those of LeAnn Rimes. Tell me what you guys think!
"Shame on you if you fooled me once; shame on me if you fooled me twice; you're a pretty hard case to crack.." - LeAnn Rimes' "Life Goes On"
Plugs to Sindhu, Christine, Tania (new layout <3), Astrophel, and Cassie for their votes for the trivia question. The correct answer, however, is LeAnn Rimes' "Life Goes On". Well, it's not exactly on the layout, but rather on the title bar. Right now, it's one of my favourite songs, it having a double meaning to me and all.. I hope you guys like it. This took me three days to do in conjunction with two other web interfaces I had to code up for Environmental Science class. I'm just glad I got the other two out of the way and was able to concentrate on this one. I'm not going to use a blogging tool for this layout, but I will do so in the next one; I just want to experiment the benefits and glitches of using merely tables and manual blogging. Manual blogging entails a lot of ftping, but since most of my layouts only last two weeks at the least (three and a half weeks at the most) I don't think it would be so much of a hassle.
The presentation went reasonably well. The free loader once more free loaded off all of us, and it was beyond my concern anymore.. if she doesn't get a grade for the course, it's her loss and her fault. If the professor asks her where she was on Tuesday, I don't think I'll be helping her. I ad libbed the entire 20 minutes along with Tiff, and the professor was quite sympathetic with the technical glitches. =) Our group has to present once more next Thursday (with much less pressure) using my laptop so all the work that has been implemented into the project can be viewed. I just hope offline copies of the website aren't opened by mistake as I saved the sites in the same folder. 0.o;;
After lecture class, half the block went to Pizza Hut for lunch. We had a nice, full (and I mean FULL) lunch in time for math. In math, I was more focused on math rather than today's game (which half the block went to instead of attending math), lol. Now that itself was an atypical situation! -- In fact, today had its significant ups and downs, yet it was a nice one! =) Made me come home smiling!
.. and guess who was also elected as block representative? *waves hands around* Yeah. =D
o.0;; Oops. Rich was just online on MSN and I didn't get to greet him. I'll just greet him tomorrow, if I see him.. And just before I leave this long post, I promised pictures from a long time ago. NOTE: I don't have black hair in any of them yet; I had brown hair. I don't have a cam yet, but when I do, I'll reveal my 'black locks' hehe. =) -- PLUG!

Probably the one thing that cheeses me the most about some people are those who free-load off others. I was walking and talking with Saba after taking the PE long exam and when I told him about what's going on, he told me outright, "Seems like you're a victim to free loaders." And hell yes I am! The first instance involved the PE project, where one girl (out of the three of us) just slammed a pile of papers onto my desk, thinking I had some superpower to paraphrase it in time for the due date. I already had the layouting job to do, and that alone was quite a job! Obviously, she wasn't in the human state of mind, leaving Ivy to paraphrase her crap for her! When I managed to bind and put everything together, I still wrote her name; I would feel bad if I didn't. I realized at that point I can be too damn nice in the moments where I don't have the need to be. The second instance involves my current project. One girl (out of three -- again) hasn't done squat, basically having a three person group with only two minds in proper function (Yes, Tiff, you are not freeloading off me! <3 Ya! =D) Tomorrow is our presentation, and I'm left to make one more web layout, a twenty minute speech that can accomodate all three of us to conduct and the redrafting of our paper. I can see where all my stress is coming from. 0.o;; I just wish I wasn't too nice in the times where I should be a raving lunatic. =/ I guess it's because I'm too tired to be bitchy. At first, I don't mind if someone 'can't make it' to the group meetings, but if it happens all semester, then it's more than just coincidence. All I know for sure is that if the group gets good grades, then I know the ones who really deserve the gift ar the ones that busted their brains to accomplish something. If we get a bad grade, it calls to tarring and feathering the douchebag that didn't do crap.
I love Michelle Branch's new song with Santana! If you guys haven't heard it yet, it's called "The Game Of Love". I noticed she's slightly changed her looks, leaning towards the vintage-image. If you guys haven't listened to her song yet, you should!
Other songs which are good are:
Life Goes On - LeAnn Rimes
Your Body Is A Wonderland - John Mayer <3
Tell Me - Goldfinger
Zephyr Song - RHCP
Breathe In - Frou Frou
A Sorta Fairytale - Tori Amos
Like I Love You - Justin Timberlake x.X;;
*looks at the songs above* Trivia: Which song do you think I will be featuring on my next layout? =) You can post your guesses in the comments below! =) Till next time!
